Hi Guys
I'm not a Hager user so hence the question.
I've been asked to wire in lights and a fan etc for a bathroom for a mate of mine who's a bathroom installer, I've called at the house today to take a look so I can price the work, the existing consumer unit is a plastic board fitted out...
Could you tell me please if I am allowed in England to replace by myself the 2.5mm cable from a radial circuit to 4mm and the 16Amp MCB it has now for a 32Amp?
Hate these. Been called out to troubleshoot a tripping MCB. It's a house I've been to before and I know the wiring is a real dogs diner, but anyway.
Got an MCB that's tripping out with no appliances plugged in. The sockets themselves are not in a great state, however continuity and insulation...
Tried replacing Honeywell controller (ST6400C) with Tado wireless v3+ receiver. After switching the power of on, the Tado controller lights up and connects to WiFi. However, when the hot water or heating is activated via Tado app, the fuse in the central heating circuit blows off and the MCB...
Guys looking for a bit of advice. Our Mcb on the consumer unit was tripping constant even though nothing was plugged in. Both bedroom lighting and en suite lighting come under this MCB. However until recent both bedroom lighting remain on and the mcb doesn’t trip but the en suite lighting won’t...
Guys needvadvice please
I was asked to carry out an annual inspction of a DB recently
There are 12 in number radial circuits suppling sockets wired in 4mm singles protected by 32A mcb the cables are enclosed in metal trunking and supply 13a socket outlets , are the mcbs now overated as the...
Does anyone know what size cable to use for a MCG type 2 SPD (3 phase) and what MCB.the manufacturers instructions don’t state any values!
also should i use 3 x single phase or a 3 phase MCB?
I'm working off a photo and haven't been there yet - I think these are Crabtree Polestar breakers in this old 3 phase board?
Do the slightly newer design fit that CEF peddle fit?
thanks.
Hi,
I am replacing an old double oven with 2 new small ovens. The old oven is wired into a dedicated supply with a switch and the consumer board has a 32amp MCB B breaker.
New oven 1 requires a 15 amp fuse and 2790W. link below.

My grandparents are having problems after the installation of a smart meter (against my advice) and now the circuit breaker trips intermittently during the Day part of Economy 7 with no other discernable pattern.
Sometimes it will switch off after being toggled on again before a few minutes...
Hi guys,
I’ve just looked in my consumer unit and I’ve got space for an extra MCB and a rail transformer for my ring doorbell.
I’m planning on adding a matching mcb however I don’t know if I need a 3A, 6A or 10A version.
The transformer is British General Fortress 8-24V AC 8VA Bell...
I have a customer who want's me to fit a 3Kw Patio heaterto a garage. - I believe this requires a Type C breaker. There is limited space in the board, so wanted to get peoples views on whether it's OK to swap an existing B type (used for sockets) for the C type, or whether the C type load needs...
I have a number of circuits in a not very old Hager sub CU, with split RCDs. All of the active circuits (8 used in a 12 slot dual RCD CU) test fine. RCDs tripping fine under test with Megger MFT. However, I have a MTN B140 (40 amp obvs) MCB in the board that has nothing connected to it. ie...
Every big build I have had the pleasure to work on the last 10+ years I would say 99% of the sparks use their 18v impact to do the consumer unit connections
Good practice as its fast and effective Or butchery and will lead to knackered switch gear
I have a servo drive that is rated 10AMP. It then has a second rating refered to as it's Peak current : 30AMP
1) Do you size a MCB using the Peak current rating or the standard rating?
2) Again when choosing a contactor would you go for one closest to it's peak current rating or standard...
Which code would you give to a Wylex board populated with Hagar mcbs ,Wylex main switch and Wylex rcd.
