    which voltage proving unit?

i need to purchase a voltage proving unit - i have seen Megger MPU690, Martindale PD690, and Socket and See SP400, and Fluke but difficult to compare, will need sometimes to work on 3-phase so 440+volts needed. and with the automatic ramping, is there any way to stop the 400-690v for lower...

Proving a point - for real

Today I went to fix a minor loose screw on something and after switching off, etc, got out my Martindale VT12 continuity & voltage tester and proving unit - and my tester failed. Yes, one LED lit, but no sound nor any of the voltage indicator LEDs functioning. So bin for that tester now...

    Contactor. Proving dead . 3 phase .

When working in a control panel. If I needed to replace a 3 phase contactor do I need to carry out a 10point check to prove dead on just the mains isolator. Or do I need to 10point check the mains isolator and then another 10point check on the contactor before removing. Many thanks

Proving dead at a pendant -,no cpc

All these procedures for proving dead in the UK are mostly new to me . We were expected to be competent to work safely with the training we were given, I don't recall ever being taught to prove dead as such So is there a set procedure for proving dead in this scenario with approved devices...

    Proving units maximum voltage

I decided, having lived with using a live circuit, to buy a proving unit. I opted for a Kewtech Prove 4 which covers 5 voltages between 690volts and 50 volts. The device starts at 690 volts which is ok for my Megger 2 pole tester. My fluke clamp meter has a limit of 600 volts. The second problem...

continuity tester and proving unit also required?

Hi. We have a circuit where some of the sockets have a dangerously high earth loop impedance. This was identified by a professional electrician. I was thinking of rewiring this, as a DIY project. For safety, I want to ensure the replacement is done to spec. Buying a multifunction tester seems...

Recommendations for a Voltage Indicator and Proving Unit

I’m looking to save for a Safe Isolation Kit, we done the Safe Isolation procedure in College using a Martindale Kit. But would anyone have any recommendations for a kit to buy? The Martindale was good but I’ve seen a few other manufacturers that seem to offer more features but are they worth it?

New Martindale Proving Unit with CalCheck

Received a mailshot from Martindale this morning introducing their new proving units with calibration checking function. Like some others, I've previously not bothered with a proving unit as use an incomer or other known live source to prove, however this relatively inexpensive device is tempting...

    Imersion timer

We have an vented system boiler, the boiler is quite large and struggles to run rate low enough to just heat water. The tank has an imersion heater fitted, I'd like to switch this with a contractor driven by a singe channel heating programmer. I plan to put a tank stat between the programmer...

    Proving structural steel is bonded

Carrying out some EICR on a commercial/industrial site. Previous records state the structural steel is bonded, and visually I can see 4x 25mm Earth wires leaving the main earth bar, I cannot trace the one going to the steel , though I suspect one of these does. How do I prove this? Is it a case...
