    Determination of Wire Voltage Rating

I am curious about voltage ratings on wire. I'm interested in 10-4 for a 25-foot cord that will be carrying 25 Amps at 240 volts. There are two voltage ratings for this wire on Amazon, 300 and 600. Would it be prudent to choose the 600-volt wire since the peak voltage of 240 is 339 volts? Or is...

    Fire rating of fuseboard

I recently came across a video on YouTube and the guy fit a fuseboard. Very tidy job but I was confused as he used couplers to have the board not flush with the wall and there was massive holes in the back where the cable comes through. 1) doesn't it need to be ip rated so nobody can get there...

    Current rating for tumble dryer?

I have just bought a tumble dryer that has come supplied with A 13A fuse. The manual says it has come with a special plug, that must be plugged into a 16A rated socket. Surely if I plugged it into a 16A socket and it tried to draw more than 13A it would blow? Can I plug this into a normal 13A...

Hey guys, what does for example 300A rating on a 3 pole MCB means?

Hey guys, what does for example 300A rating on a 3 pole MCB means? Does it mean each phase carries 300A i.e. (Current in R=300A, Y=300A, B=300A) or it represents total currents in all the 3 phases i.e.(Current in R+Y+B=300A)? Please assist, it is confusing me a lot with my calculations of...

DiLOG testers....any good? And is 440v overvoltage rating adequate?

I'm looking at new testing equipment and quite like the look of the dilog's. They seem to do what every other tester does but they are cheaper and the customer service has rave reviews. I noticed they all only go up to 440v overvoltage whereas the higher end Flukes etc go to 550v. Any ideas?
