I'm currently planning for a CU upgrade on the domestic premises, and following previous advice on this forum, I was told that I should consider upgrading to a Type A RCBO CU.
I have been doing a bit of reading and came across some confusing information, stating that an RCD would not work on a...
Morning all,
Does anyone know if there is a replacement part for this discontinued one?
I’ve seen some second hand ones floating about on eBay, but if I can’t find a brand new alternative then I’ll have to change the whole board.
I’ve sent Schneider an email almost a week ago and still haven’t...
I've just installed a new kitchen consumer unit with RCBOs. The client says the oven RCBO is now tripping when it cools down. Any ideas what could be causing this?
a fuse carrier is broken in 6way mem board with no rcd protection , it makes sense to upgrade to rcbos like other boards in the installation..
My question is , I'm nearly certain there is borrowed neutral on the lighting circuits and he won't want a wire fitted from kitchen to landing to...
I came across something new today. When I removed the main earth to do ze the rcbo tripped. Put the earth back in and it's fine. Can anyone explain what is going on?
Hi, first post here!
Just wondering on your thoughts on RCBO neutral fly leads being connected to the bottom of a main switch?
Went to replace a cracked double pole switch for the storage heater, went to give it a quick test and came across this. Dual RCD board with an extra main switch added...
I need to get 30mA RCD protection to a new circuit I am putting on this consumer unit.
I didn't take the cover off so I am not sure if there will be spare ways on the RCD side of it (wish I had checked!). It looks likely that there would be space, does anyone know if the RCD side of this board...
Hello I you are all well
This is hard to explain but basically doing a three phase install and there is no power yet so I wanted to test two lighting circuits before the lifter went, I used an extension lead and connected live to phase L2 (that's what the lights were on) Neutral to the neutral...
I shall be replacing my dual RCD CU, for a all RCBO populated CU. A question or two about technique for IR testing.
For the IR test, I've read here before that a global IR test is preferable. With older types of RCBO's that wasn't possible, without disconnecting cables, which ended up with the...
Hi guys, if 16 RCBO neutrals are tie wrapped together for neatness, are there any thermal considerations such as grouping factors to be taken into account?
Morning everyone, this is my first post - although i had an account years before that seems to have been lost.
Can any of you shed some light onto a situation I've come across.
I have a newly installed RCBO which is failing the x5 test with a reaction greater than 40 mS.
Now, I don't have a...
I know you are not supposed to do a insulation test on circuits that are protected by an RCD at 500v because it may damage the electronic components inside the RCD so that's why you switch the RCD off before you test the individual circuits, however, what if the circuits are all protected by...

Hi all,
As the title suggests, I’m after an RCBO to fit an old Crabtree CU.
Was wondering if this style would do it?
All suggestions appreciated, thanks in advance.
Thoughts on this please, functional earth leads obviously showing signs of heat damage, the greenish coloured neutral leads compared to the blue ones are coloured throughout their length, maybe heat has caused this?
Trying to locate a suitable RCBO for a Siemens board with (mostly) 5SX21 breakers in.
They don't seem to make this range any more, though I don't think it can be that old. It rather resembles the older MK breakers and I believe Siemens provided some of the electronics for MK stuff.
Busbar...
Hi
I have a MFT1553 Mega tester. Is there a feature on the tester to test 3phase RCBOs when there’s no neutral present? Pretty sure mot. Was wondering if i could temporarily connect a neutral on a Wander lead and use the three wire test method?
Thanks
John
