Is an RCD required with RCBO's protecting the circuits

Surely if you fit an RCBO on each circuit, an RCD is not required? Of course, a DP Main switch would be to cut all power, but like I ask, is the RCD required as it is incorporated in the RCBO? Thanks

RCBO's are suppliers taking a risk

There talks that campervan electrical suppliers, like Truma, Sargent, Powerpart, etc are supplying electrical consumer units or control systems with 240v systems illegally as they do not meet the 18th edition, section 721 on motorcaravans where in a fault, both live and neutral must be...

Do Wylex RCBO's fit as a replacement for NSB MCB's?

I may well need to change all the MCB's for RCBO's in this board (see picture). Do Wylex RCBO's fit in this board? It is currently fitted with NSB MCB's. Also, Wylex seem to do a few different RCBO's. Do they all fit, especially the new compact range? I'll expand a little on the problem...

Satisfying over current characteristics of RCBO's

I work in the events industry which works under 7909. This assumes that someone qualified 7671 etc has tested the distor's and designed a system before it is sent to an event where people like me with 7909 then plug in and do some basic testing. I've completed 7671 and other domestic install...

Are Danson consumer units and RCBO's ok?

I am in the habit of fitting 'Fusebox' consumer units. However, I notice that Danson are even cheaper. Has anyone fitted them? Are they acceptable quality? Any problems with the RCBO's? If they are 'Chint' like quality then I would rather avoid them. Chint are the only RCD's I have ever come...

MWC for changing MCB's to RCBO's

I've just had a EICR completed and it has C2's for cables concealed, in walls at a depth less than 50mm, containing metal parts and no RCD(s) provided for additional protection. All the circuits are for night storage heaters and come from a seperate DB on night tariff and where installed in...

Intermittent RCD tripping. Benefit of changing over to RCBO's?

Hi, We have recently had some electrical work completed in the house to add a new circuit for air conditioning. We are now experiencing intermittent RCD trips, at all hours of the day and night, in the section of the consumer unit that the new A/C MCB was installed into. No MCB's trip - just...

Will modern mini Hagar RCBO's fit this older Hagar board?

It's a long shot, but do the mini hagar RCBO's fit this board? It's too small to fit standard RCBO's in, even if they lined up on the bus bar. Just trying to give an alternative to a new board to the customer! Cheers all ?

new circuits onto an AMD3 board with RCBO's - ref 18th ed?

Hi, I am planning a house extension and will need to add 3 more circuits to my existing board. My current set-up is a metal CU with all circuits on RCBO's. Will I be able to add circuits to this board under 18th Ed or will i need a board swap to make room for all the extra surplus surge...

Will RCBO's fit this MK board?

I need to fit some RCBO's into this board. I realise they don't fit in place of the LN range but these don't say LN on them and it doesn't look like the old LN MK CU I have in the shed. Will they fit? Cheers all.

    EICR specs for these RCBO's

I'm doing an EICR at the moment, I don't normally do them and don't enjoy it, but beggars can't be choosers! I've come across some RCBO's I've not seen before, they are federal stablock type with a neon in the test button that lights up when they trip. Does anyone know the facts and figures...

Why the disparity in prices of RCBO's?

As in the title. I usually fit dual RCD boards, however I have recently fitted a few RCBO boards due to space restrictions. To obtain a reasonable price for the customer I have been fitting Lewden RCBO's, as at £10 each they are affordable. Why do RCBO's have such a difference in price...
