GFCI issue that is not related to the circuit it's protecting.

Having lost my father in law many years ago, an electrician and electrical engineer, I'm now at a loss for a sounding board for any issue that comes up that I get stumped with. I am hoping the fine folks here may be of some assistance. I am having a GFCI/ AFCI issue in my sub panel...

    What's this? (Lamp post related)

The lamp posts on a small lane near me have had blue triangles painted in front of them. It looks like these are to mark the presence of a small metal pin, similar in appearance to a rivet. Anyone know what they are for? Too small to be an earth rod.

Not strictly a car issue but car related.

I run some computer case fans from a 12volt car battery in my Garage to keep the air flow moving and prevent condensation in winter. I borrowed the idea from classic car air chambers, thinking why not make the entire garage an air chamber, keep my tools and everything else dry at the same time...

UK Hello. I saw a question related to the Rangemaster Kitchener 90

My own problem is that when the grill is on, sometimes the mains trips which takes out all of the other units like boiler freezer etc. The individual trip for the cooker does not drop out! Does that mean there is a short somewhere? I suspect the switch for the grill as yesterday I turned it a...

    Relay related question

Hello, I'm trying to build a 12v circuit where a npn laser sensor activate a pump but I have no idea on how to build it. Its pretty simple but if I hook the laser to the circuit it looks like there's not enough current passing through to power the pump. So I think I would need a relay right...

I'm reaching out to try and figure out a best way forward to update the metering in my flat. From the looks of things, we've got two totally separate supply & metering systems - one with what I think is an old timer and that meter is on an economy 10 tariff for storage heaters (on the RHS) and...

    Plumbing Related Wonderings!

We recently had an unvented cylinder installed (to replace an old vented one) and the higher pressure of the hot water has made us realise how crap the tap is on the kitchen sink. Had a wee look under the sink and discovered that I have no isolating valve on the hot pipe! Would I be right in...
