Hello everyone
I'm doing my 2395 practical assessment this week and I'm looking through my condition report inspection schedule.
in the case I come up against a low ( < than 1 mohm ) value on mega ohms while completing a IR test which box in the inspection schedule should I code this fault...
I would like to get a better understanding of what the specific IR test results could indicate. I'm talking more about the below 1MΩ area. I'm talking about.. wet plaster, flooding (sitting in water), degraded insulation etc etc, I realise it wouldn't give the answer but it may help in narrowing...
I understand that when carrying out RCD testing an RCD should trip within 300ms at 1x and 40ms at 5x but is it common that on occasions for the RCD to trip quicker at 1x than 5x. I never had it occur personally.
I am just looking at some old certs and on some circuits the RCD is tripping...
Hi all just a little query about a conversation I was having with a work mate.
Personally I do a few domestic EICR's on occasion and whom I was talking to does more large commercial and industrial. Now when I perform my inspections I would usually start with a 20% sample and depending on these...
Any ideas gratefully received.
I'm testing a new ground floor extension. Brand new lighting circuit. Live switches. Only feeding jcc fgled6. Continuity is fine. 0.33 at furthest point. Circuit disconnected from the cu I've had readings from 88MOhms to >299MOhms line/cpc. The others are fine...

Came across this today, a 4mm cable terminated, but some of the strands had been cut in order for the cable to be terminated. Oddly, it was feeding a light.
Hi guys please bear with me as I am new to the electrical game

Hi Guys I have been testing 20a rcbos today on a 3phase tcns cables are all 4mm singles , the readings are all coming out as 19ms both on times 1 and 5 on 0 degress and 9ms on 180 both on times 1 and 5.

Ive tried searching but not getting info I need. Would appreciate any advice as pretty nervous about my assessment !
Test results - We have our test results all stored on ipad and backed up on Macbook. How should I present these to the assessor will he be cool with flicking though our iPad or...
Last week I investigated a 3036 fuse blowing on a radial - different IR on each end, no continuity on the CPC. So I left the circuit isolated. I pondered as to whether the ultra low IR was related to a new water main being installed about 3 months earlier!
So I went in again today and found that...
Interested to know what other people do about IR testing results on a MWC. If your additions contain new fixed wiring then you test that and record those results, obviously. But what if you're just replacing a fitting with a brand new one, the IR testing of which seems pointless? Do you leave...
