Why is it that so many timers, programmable thermostats (and the like) are still manufactured without the ability to automatically change the time between GMT and BST at the right moment, despite being sophisticated in so many other ways?
OK, a rhetorical question and I know there are some that...
So, very long story short.......I got given a bit of a generator, free if you take it out! All sounds too good to be true and it was, they got the better deal financially but I got what I wanted in terms of my quest to save these items of the British electrical engineering past.
Just a few...
Hi,
I've just landed a job as an electrical tester and need a new MFT (mainly light industrial).
As I'm going to be spending considerable time testing I thought I'd ask about the new high-end options.
what are peoples favourites?
Are these new fancy options like Bluetooth on the mergers...

Just a thought but when a plug is plugged into a mains outlet, say for example a phone charger, is there a way to somehow do something to the plug so it doesn't sap any energy when plugged in but not connected to the phone so it can stay plugged in all the time without usong any...

Smart meters to cut bills 'by just £11' - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-44903471
Just turn off a few more chargers and it would have a similar effect.
I've never thought that Smart Meters did anything but add infrastructure that would allow suppliers to apply different...
I've not read any of the 18th edition drafts but have read some summary points of what to expect. I understand there will be some emphasis on energy conservation. Is anyone aware of what this will entail (in domestic installs) other than low energy lighting?
Hi All,
First post here, so hello there.
I'm not an electrician so please excuse my ignorance in the subject.
I recently installed a Smappee energy (and solar) monitor system, and I'm really pleased with how it works.
However, I have noticed that the load on my meter does not drop when my solar...

Evening Folks,
I use the above forms on laptop. Generally write roughly then type up at home.
I did download the latest Adobe reader/viewer/thingymabob, but when you go to save the cert you cannot rename it or do 'save as'. It will only save as the original Adobe file name. I tried this...

Hi all,

Although my first attempt was done with while recovering from a broken hand I feel as though time got the better of me in the end. On my exam results sheet I...

Some time ago I had to replace a bathroom shaver light unit with a new one as the old one looked like it was made by Salvador Dali. Anyway, the new one 'had to be' an energy-saving fluorescent one to save the world for the ten minutes it is used per day. After a couple of days I got a callback...
A friend of mine is moving into a house with a three phase supply. Now..

Is the excessive Neutral current/wasted electricity something to worry about...
