Idly browsing fleabay and I ran across this:
I know standards were once rather laxer, but surely this was never an actual manufactured product? More like some maniac in a shed cackling as he put it together?
Brass may be less conductive than copper, but even so (not sure I'd trust to there...

Hi all,
I am new to the forum.
I am currently looking to buy my first multifunctional tester, I have looked at many from seaward to fluke but I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations?
Also, has anyone ever purchased a second hand one? Is there anything to look out for when buying...
Hi lads,
I have a Megger 1552. I didn't really use it in the last couple of years. I was planning to get more into testing again, so sent it for calibration.
Unfortunately, it failed. I was told it requires a new side socket where the test leads plug into the tester. As the tester is old...
I have tenants that have 3 fairly new small a/c units all the same and when any of them are turned on my tester reads hot & neutral reversed. The 15 amp circuit that feeds these units has no ground wire. Is this normal or could these a/c units be wired wrong from the factory?

Hi all, new to this forum and could do with some advice re Pat Testing.
As the new law relating to EICR's to the private rented sector is coming up, I'm getting calls from my clients about the inspections but now they are also starting to enquire about having PAT testing done. I'm fully...
Hello,
I have a dedicated loop tester (Martindale EZ2500) and also a Fluke 1662 MFT
The reason I have the additional loop tester is often at work I will need to measure P-E & P-N loop impedance only while I am in a harness climbing, or have walked for ages (large concert touring) the EZ2500...
Hi guys
I’m starting out on my own, whilst still in employment (I do shift work, so working around that). I’ve been looking at dozens of multifunction testers and the Martindale ET4500 really stands out to me, it’s got great features and at a good price. There’s not many reviews on it though...
Have had a Megger PAT4/DV3 for about 10 years and about to replace with a new tester. It cost me about £1K back then. Looking at buying a
Martindale EasyPAT 1600 PAT for £600 ish. It sounds like it will do all we need, but can't find any reviews.
Anyone have experience of these, and can give a...
Hi Guys,
Completed an EV charging course a few months back. Looking to explore that growing corner of the market. My Megger 1720 multi function tester packed up recently. Always pretty happy with my Megger, but I'm looking to get a tester that has integrated EV testing and comes with its own EV...
There's a lot of different PAT testing machines out there from £300 to close to £3000, I'm not going planning to do a lot of PAT testing but I think it is a good service to be able to offer, any reccommendations for any particular reason?
thank you very much
I have a Martindale VT12 voltage tester which is OK, but very quickly I discovered the continuity function is a right PITA. Test for volts on the neutral and it lights up and squeals at you!
Takes a moment to realise it is the continuity LED that has lit, and the squeal is slightly different...
I’m looking to get registered with the compétant persons scheme.
I’m looking at testers and wondering if it’s worth the extra money to get a tester that tests b type RCDs.
would the scheme pénalise me for not having an 18th fully compliant tester?
wondering on what people’s views are.

Dear all
Testing Zs on fluke 1663 returned an error code 4
I thought this was an earth fault but another spark said it’s a voltage on the line.
Anyone have the correct answer
?
Cheers

Hi
A quick one I was wondering if anyone knows how a multifunction tester performs a loop impedance test.
I understand how to perform a test and what the results of a loop impedance test give you in working out your PSCC and earth fault current. I use my Fluke multifunction tester every day at...
How do you use clamp meter?
Do you just clamp the line? Or line and neutral?
Also been working with a couple of guys that have earth leakage meters and one clamps the line and neutral and the other clamps the earth?
Can someone tell me the correct ways?
Thanks
