Hi all, long time no see!
So I have this question that I need to answer for an assignment but there is an issue. I have a copy of the BS7671 Wiring Regs Amendment 3 (which has amendment 1 & 2 removed from the introduction).
Question 1 asks : Which zone no longer applies to a shower room?
The...
Good morning,
Ok so this is something that has been bothering me for some time now and seems to be somewhat of a 'grey' area, I am hoping the community can clear this up for me.
My background -
I went to college in 2010-2012 and complete my level 2 and 3 - 2330.
2012 was the last year of the...

Evening all,
I carried out an EICR on a property with economy 7.
I tested the main board like normal and only carried out the dead tests on the econemy 7 board. I have read the forum suggests about the live tests and taken notes for later tests with econemy 7. For now I am just going to put...
Hi All
We do a lot of testing, but this is the first job like this for us.
Basically a company are renewing the cables from a control panel to 7 motors etc, they are taking care of the controls etc.
We are due to test and certify the new SWA cables and terminations etc, which isn't a problem...

Hi,
We are adding some floor boxes onto an existing electrak in an occupied office, could anyone comfirm the tests we have to complete, only i've been told its classed as a plugged in appliance so doesn't require any tests. Is this correct?
Installing a split RCD board in a new barn conversion build, IR tests come out clear, ring continuity tests fine, but the RCD will trip out when something is plugged into the circuit, happens on both sockets that are currently running off that side of the RCD but when I swapped one over to the...

Morning all,

Hi, haven't been here for a while.:waving:
Just a quick one, what tests and certificates needed, if installing a couple of circuits, 2A loads from the control panel in the plant room, it will be supplying boilers
Don't say its a full wack EIC , and if I am concerned only with circuits I am...
Guys non domestic stuff here but is it true that you don't carry out ring final tests on EICR.
Or is it that you don't have to and done do it as a matter of course anyway or do you charge extra for doing stuff not needed.
I'm of the opinion of its not much extra to do it then I'll just do it...

I have a strange RCD tripping problem, we have a dual RCD consumer unit, when the main switch is turned off both RCD s activate, they have activated individually but not at the same time. There is no continuity between the neutrals and both sides have an insulation resistance of >25 meg, we have...

Hi all,
This is my first post here so I'd just like to start off by saying: I know very little about electrics, electrical installations and electrical standards.
I'm a software developer and I've been tasked with creating an interactive, 3D environment for a technical college that a user can...

Had an old Fluke for years, which has incidentally been faultless . Company purchased a Megger last year however when doing Internal earth fault loop impedance readings are far higher than expected.
I.e..example
Ze = 0.20ohms
r1 + r2 = 0.15ohms
Zs should be about 0.35ohms however coming...
Im a new electrician
I had a ceiling light and fan that exploded when I switched it on so i changed it to a pendent light!
First I removed the light and all i had coming from the ceiling was one wire 1.5 T&E so I wired the Red wire to the switchd live in the ceiling rose and the black to the...

Hi all

Ze was high 290ohms, bonding to gas and water all...

Hi all
Have a problem with a Wylex 32A Type C RCBO that has tripped to a utility room and heating plant room to a west London mid terraced house.
It will not reset even with all loads removed. I tried swapping the line and neutral conductors to an adjacent same rated RCBO and the same...
