I have a Metrel AlphaPat MI 2142 with a Belkin F5U103 USB serial adapter. Always worked fine on my old computer but now have new one with Windows 7, 64 bit (God know's what that means). anyway nothing "talks" to each other any more!
Any ideas?
Hi,
I'm thinking about getting a 5KW wind turbine, I have 1.5 acre garden but the nearest house is 95meters away. Does anyone know what councils need for a minimum distance as a rule? The average wind speed in my area is 7.2 which is very good for turbines apparently. Anyone in the turbine...
We have just been to quote for a job :party:where the customer wants a wall mounted system. I have no issue with this but it got me thinking about the wind load calculations - everything I have read is to do with Roof-Mounted systems. Can anyone advise whether they will be required for wall...

Hi Guys
Did an install for a company yesterday, 18 x 200 watt panels with an omnic-4k-tl inverter wired in 2 strings, pretty much south facing. Got a call today as the inverter keeps cutting out. There is also a wind turbine onsite feeding into the same board (cant remember the power of the...
Has anyone out there got a simple spreadsheet to calculate wind loads on PV and ST panels. MCS are picking up on this more and more and I'm struggling to find something suitable.

I am not an electrician.
I have recently had a 20kw turbine installed into a 3 phase meter and I also have a 4kw pv system installed into my house on a seperate meter. The turbine is likely to produce 45,000 kwh and therefore I am intending to install an export meter for the turbine.
What I...
hi guys

Hey all.
Not been here for a while. Hope everyone is well and enjoying the year 2012 thus far. Ok, basically I'm refurbing a kitchen in a ground floor flat. Now the plans that I have been given show all the final positions of the units etc, where the cooker space is, washer space, frige space...
i have a possible issue with a dc motor i can only get to the 2 inputs and not to the phisical windings
they dont have any shorts to earth and have good continuity readings
are there any other tests that i can carry out without taking the motor to bits??
Hi, Does anyone one of an engineer who can carry out yearly maintenance on 6kw Proven wind turbines, I have a client who requires this and having trawled the internet, doesn't seem to be an abundance of engineers who do this. Any help would be appreciated or if its the sort of thing you can do...
Hi everyone,
Are there any installs that have been affected by the violent weather?
I cant help but think that with the very strong gale winds we have been having in the past few days along mixed with the reduction in quality of PV installs up to the 12th December, there would be some installs...
Evenin all.
As a bit of a project, I've decided to have a look into small scale off grid wind power.
The location where I live, I believe would be well suited to a small turbine install as it's very exposed and windy almost all of the time.
Do any members have any recommendations on systems...
Hi
We have just had an MCS inspection and have been advised that we need to get independent wind/weight load assessments on each roof we install on, even if it is a new roof. The assessor said that this section of MCS was open to interpretation but may be something they insist on in the...
this is mad ive see guys on roofs which should be up there ( hats of to their courage ) I pulled ours down this morning its just not worth it what would a few days cost not the price of a life !
What a day. We had three jobs to complete as of this morning, one of them in a very windy Essex. One of the lads rang me mid morning to tell me that an extended roof ladder had blow off the roof and landed on a conservatory some way from where they were working. Two new toughened seal units now...
