I carry out PATs of all types of electrical equipment. I was recently asked as to whether I would fail a 110v extension lead ,splitter box or transformer because the spring cover on the socket outlet was eirher missing or broken. when investigating it seems to be a bit of a grey area with personal opinion being divided. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

i thought the lids were to protect fingers.

WRONG! the lid has that little spiky bit that sticks out, this is especially designed to smash into the finger of the inexperienced user and cause a lot of pain,it used to catch my wife out a lot in the early days when she unplugged the lead fron the tranny.lol
