18V de walt lith ion battery question?

Hi guys I've got 2 de Walt batteries as explained in the title. One of them is older than the other (3 years)
It will not charge. When I put in charger the red light flashes faster than normal and doesn't charge.

Anyone experienced this before? Is the battery stuffed? I would have thought the life span was longer than that?

That's ggod for Nicad but not for Li-on.
I had a Ryobi Li-on battery fail which I'd only recenty bought.
I searched all over for a solution for reviving Li-on but there isn't one, the battery was out of warranty as it was older stock.
Don't let Li-on go completely flat either, that kills them

Consumers rights act 1979, if you bought it as new but was their old shelf stock then you can still get it replaced as it was sold as a new battery and it hasn't served what would be considered anything near its design life, ive had T.V.s, washing machine and music centre all replaced a couple of years out of their waranty, all you need is independant report as to why its failed and that it was not because abuse etc. Id have taken the battery back and argued till i got a free one, they dont like the hassle most of time and quoting a few relevent laws usually works.

DON'T DO THIS! It will destroy your Li-on battery pack.
The only method that works is to charge the individual cells one at time on a single cell conditioning charger, but it is usual to find one or more unresponsive cells (due to electrolyte depletion), in which case the only sensible option is to replace the battery pack.
