Hi, I am new to the forum and just doing some updating of switch and socket face plates in my house. I studied Electrical Eng so ok with circuit theory and safety and have test equipment (non contact tester, multimeter, etc).
I have a room with two ceiling lights. These are controlled from two, two gang, two way switches. I want to change to a 1 gang 1 way setup. So each switch will only control one of the ceiling lights.
On inspection the 2-way wiring setup is a 3 wire control between the switches.
To setup the “main” existing switch location as 1 way I could completely disconnect one of the 3 wire plus earth cables and terminate using push in connectors.
To setup the peripheral existing switch location as 1-way I could then use the other 3 wire plus earth cable as a 2 wire plus earth with the switched live disconnected at both ends and appropriate connections made with push in connectors to link the wire between the switches into the supply at the existing main switch location.
Having drawn out the circuit this should work. Is there anything else to consider?
