evening all

a customer has asked me to prepare 2 new sub mains outside in enclosures where they will be fitting 2 new electric meters.

i would like to know whether i need to fit 2 external boxes for each meter and isolators or if i could fix them all into 1 big box.

also on the day edf come down to connect up will i need to show them a periodic inspection report of the property

Not too sure of what you are doing. Are you connecting up 2 flats or similar, each with their own electricity supply? If so then seperate box in the wall for each property, bring your tails and MET into it, and the supplier will fit meters, isolators etc, and connect your bits into it.

Round my way they usually want to see a CU with a socket wired into it or a light, they dont usually bother me for paperwork, but i am always there when they connect, just in case they find something to moan about. 3pm Friday afternoon is best appointment, try avoid 8.30am Monday's.

sorry just re read your post. If they are fitting isolators then they shouldn't even be concerned with your work, they will power it up, do what they need to do, and leave it up to you to connect your bits up. Their liability stops at the isolator.

Cheers.........Howard

this is an existing install with an old tns supply.

at the moment it supply's 1 meter. from there it is split to feed 2 boards. they want the supply moved to outside and 2 meters fitted.

ive told them they need a survey from the DNO.

in this situation will the DNO say they need to pull in a new supply from the road

also, will the dead test need to be done by a registered electrician?
