i've got a non-genuine battery for makita 24V SDS. it's awesome.

My experience of cheap batteries has always been poor. For an extreme example try the pound shop AA batteries when you get 20 or so for a quid. Guaranteed to last 3 minutes and then leak all over your expensive stuff. Daz

Granted there are probably some very dodgy replica's out there, but is the markup that name-brands add to 'their' batteries (which are more than likely made by the same companies that make some of the replica's) really justified? Seems like they sell the tools cheap and make their money on the consumables ( batteries etc.).

Makita charge £70-100 odd for a 3amp battery

Picked 3 genuine up a couple weeks back for £150

What about recelling?
I've got a couple of Makita batteries that are beyond help.
Has anyone got any recommendations?

You can get duff batteries repacked but with this and with buying generic I'd only take the chance if there were legitimate recommendations from other users who have taken the plunge.
