Morning guys,

I have my first practical exam tomorrow for 2394 Initial verification. I believe one of the 3 short tests is to identify visual faults on a distribution board. What are the other two tests ?
Help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

One of the others is full initial verification on the board and the other is to sit and go through a load of things and identify faults, this is something other than the board, or was that the 2395 maybe?

The first of the three small tests is to identify 12 faults or so on a board. I think the other two are insulation resistance test and earth fault loop impede nice but I am not sure.
The other practical which is next week is the full test of a board.
Can someone clarify the first part though ?

I recall a visual faults test. You have something like a dozen faults and you have to get them all, no more and no less. It's a sod when you are stuck with 11 or 13 :)
I also remember an IR board where you have to test simulated circuits, calculate the fault current, state what kind of fault if any, and state compliant or not.
I honestly can't recall the third one. It may have been EFLI but I don't remember that one at all.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for that. I think I heard something about EFLI but not entirely sure. Bit nervous as haven't done any testing before.

i did 94 95 same time. 1st was to find 12 faults on the board last, struggled with last 2 especially with the pendant light, i know lol. Then was those photos to code them, then was that global ir test. Then the 3 phase board.

@ op dont panic and think about what you are actually testing.

Good luck

I did basic testing as part of 2330 qualification back in 2009. Nothing since. As a Sub-contractor working through agencies on commercial jobs you don't ever get to do any. Never had the opportunity either through the company I was an adult trainee with either.

You should be fine then. As long as you have covered the basic theory and practical of testing then it will click into place quite easily. I can understand nerves about being out of practice, but just revise test methods and safe isolation until you have it stuck back in there and that should calm you down a bit.

As has been said earlier in this thread, get your copy of GN3 out and read it back to front a few times, going back over the bits that you are unsure about.
