Discuss 3 Common terminals within a Fan Isolator switch in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hi Guys

I wonder if you can advise on a fan isolator I am installing....
On the reverse of the fan isolator I have the following markings:

Top L1 (common) L2 N (common)

Bottom L1 L2 (common) N

Originallly I was going to wire it up supply to the top terminals and fan to the bottom terminals
as seen in many other wire diragrms. However the fan Isolator I purchased as the terminals
marked as above.

Now I'm thinking I should connect the supply in all the common terminals regardless if they are at the top and bottom
and fan to the or L1, L2 and N terminals.

For clarity I have not included the blanked off L1 and L2 terminals on the rear

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

L1 - permanent live
L2 - switched live
N - neutral

Wire supply and load to this regardless of the physical layout. For a pice of mind turn the switch on, and bell the terminals out with a multi meter set on continuity before you fit it.
