Discuss 3 Phase cable Identification in the Canada area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hi there. I’m currently preparing for my Am2. I’m a little confused on how to identify/mark three phase conductors. There is a 3 phase motor to connect up which is wired in 2.5 singles.
I know the Phase colours are Brown Black Grey. My question is; if Black and Grey conductors aren’t available would I just use Brown Singles and mark the cables with Black and Grey PVC Tape to identify the phases? Would I then have to ferrule the conductors with L1 – L2 L3?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if your using alphanumerics check to make sure its not supposed to be U1,V1,W1. ive never seen L1,L2,L3 on motor cabling ( i could be wrong though, just speaking from experience). think id go with the tape personally, no arguing with colours.
