A customer of mine has booked a meter upgrade from 100a single phase to a 100a 3 phase meter so we can add an industrial oven to the system.
the supply company have booked to come and fit the new meter on new years eve and I can't be onsite that day.
I'm planning to fit a tp&n board before then and do a full completion certificate on the building which I will leave onsite.
My question is how should I leave the installation so the supply company won't kick up a fuss.
Im thinking of linking the 3 live tails in a Henley block and connecting them all to the single phase meter as a temporary connection If I do this do you think the supply company would remove the Henley block and split the tails into the new meter?
I'm a bit worried that if I'm not onsite that they might find a reason not to fit the meter or reconnect the new board.
Has anyone had any experience of this type of thing before.
Many thanks in advance.

Better to be on site if possible as meter fitters will look for any reason not to fit a meter. Most are electrically clueless. You will need to leave the three phase tails and neutral tail suitably labelled ie L1, L2 etc the earth I would connect to the existing MET. Keep your fingers crossed because I would be amazed if it goes well and you could end up with one upset customer.

As above.. Do your best to be onsite.. Any excuse their gone.. Wont take you long once the meters in. If absolutly impossible sub it out or change meter change date

They should fit tp&n isolator after the new meter (3phase) then connect back all tails in situi, on single phase, then up to you to connect your new 3 phase install into isolator.

Could have issues,if in use, meter dudes will not want to shut-down and re-commission,as mentioned, any excuse to exit, including complicated directions to address....

New Years Eve? I’ll bet they don’t even show.

Why can’t you attend, would it have something to do with NYE?
