3 zone valves (underfloor, 1st floor rads, 2nd floor rads

Hi, so I have 3 zone valves in place for my heating;

1 - for underfloor heating
2 - 1st floor heating
3 - 2nd floor heating

for some reason the plumber has put a zone valve at the pump of the manifold.
The 2nd floor has a missing room stat cable so will have to opt for a receiver for a wireless stat.

Heating isn't a strong point and I was wondering if anyone has an available wiring diagram that can help assist me with this heating.

I have a 3 channel programmer next to the boiler.

Whilst what you need is "S Plan plus" , try googling it there are plenty diagrams available, this thread on here may help.

Sorry it’s a combi boiler. Hot water is just done from boiler.
The manifold is a 4 way emmeti, with the emmeti dial thermostat for the underfloor heating

I feel something not right as they have 5c flex from 3 channel controller and a 3c&e down to heating box, with a L&N from a spur. 3c flex from boiler to heating box. Surely, the 5c flex should of went from heating box to the boiler?
3core and earth would be enough from channel as you just need a live from each valve to the 3 channel programmer?

Please correct me if I’m going a bit of corse.

It may help if you said what you were trying to do. Are you trying to understand how it its wired? Fix a fault? Add something? Or install from new?

The diagram posted by Lee has all the information you need. It just needs adapting slightly for your particular situation. The underfloor heating is just treated like a zone in the main wiring, Then within that zone it has its own thermostat and actuators for the manifold.

As you are a Trainee is there some mentor you can ask?

Hey sorry Chris, I am a trainee and I had been put on a job that I didn’t first fix and I don’t really want to disrupt my boss with to many “silly” questions as he puts it. Putting myself on here helps get a better understanding myself for this kind of heating system and will help me in any future occurrence .

Ignore the part where I have put 5c flex, and basically ranted away, but I think going in today and not taking a step back and thinking a little set me back a bit.

I’ve managed to get everything in place in terms of my first and second floor. Tomorrow I’m going to go and start introducing the manifold/underfloor heating. I’ll let you know how it goes after tomorrow and I fire it all up

Good, I'm glad your making progress. But as Murdoch says, never feel afraid or too silly to ask, it's a fine line between looking competent and looking dumb but I'm sure your boss wouldn't appreciate it if something went badly wrong.

Do you regularly go out to jobs on your own on apprentice money?

yes I guess I can ring him but All you get from him, is that you should know it. After being here for over a year and previously asking questions he doesn’t like them. He has the knowledge and experience which should be passed onto us apprentices, especially us ones that want to learn.

Yeah, all the lads at my college are the same. Seems the norm that companies are sending apprentices onto jobs alone, all to make more money.
