I've a pal looking for a little help.
They want to install outdoor lighting (a mix of CFL , GU10 and possibly LED Fittings) within 4 pir zones controlling approx 4 - 6 lights per zone. All the wiring is going back to a garage where a system unit will be mounted. He wants to then mount a control pad or switch unit in the house that will provide all zones with separate On, OFF & PIR control options. So a zone can be either switched on (bypassing the pir) for example for a barbecue, another zone off and the another 2 zones operated by the PIR. Is a DALI system the only way out of this or is there something a bit more residential. Any recommendations for a system/brand greatly appreciated.

A DALI system is overcomplicated for what you're trying to do. Do you really need networked addressable lights for such a small system?

Is this a residential installation? Do they want remote control via a smart phone app or just local manual control?

Thanks for replies, just local manual control will do perfectly. The ability to run just a single control cable/ multi core to the switch unit in the house is important as duct between garage and house is quite small.

davesparks post would be my option. with GJD you cable the PIRs in alarm cable or cat5.
