If using these to replace a 250w hit in a low bay light fitting would you just simply snip the Line and neutral from the ballast leave in the lamp holder and connect these direct to the supply ?

Reason I ask is what amps would these be pulling and Would the exsisting cable from the holders ok for these lamps.(I know this will differ from different brands)
I've worked it out at less than 1a

just as a heads up, these corn lamps give out no where near the intensity of light than the 250w metal halide lamps you are replacing, regardless of whatever output they may claim, I've tried a couple of different brands in the past and they just don't cut it! if its a larger project maybe try one first

More length of life is what client is after ,so when a fitting packs in just converting to these ,tbh the ones I've seen are pretty good for lighting levels

You can actually keep the ballast in as long as there isn't an ignitor fitted. Better to remove it though so you don't have to worry about it failing.

Just make sure the centre of the lampholder is the Live and the "screw" is neutral, the lamp holder wires are not always wired with brown and blue.....
