I wasn't able to help as really busy but they were having a new kitchen installed. The fitter said they need a new ring main for the kitchen and so needed a new consumer unit.

Had a look the other day. No RCD protection as it trips on the old ring main. The guy recons its the supply at fault and a 2DB check is needed (I assume that's Ze!)

No paperwork. No test results.

But of course the fitter is a friend of a friend so they don't want to make a0 fuss. I'll pop round and find out what the issue is with the old ring main and take the opportunity to test the new circuit as well.
I should then be able to re-install the 2 RCDs and even provide some results.

are you saying in Chinese's whispers that a friend of a friend put in a consumer unit .. and you are now going to test it ?or their is a fault on the existing circuit and might be a cock up .
