Hi guys, I got called out to a jon today and the customer is wanting 19 lights fitted on his wall, these lighrs slot into the space of a brick thats been taken out, each light has a 20w lamp, 19 x 20 380W so roughly bout 1.5amps, there is already an outside socket fed from the ring, wouldit be ok if I spurred from outside socket into a wetherproof spur which then would go to a junction box under decking and I would run a flex to a photocell and then run an armour round all the lights, would this be ok? Would I need a contactor for 19 lights?

Another quick quesion, the same customer has fancy dimmer switches and the connections are "live" load" and " slave link" one end of a 2 way lighting circuit are these dimmers and the other is just a normal switch, connecting it as I normally would works fine when dimmer is on but when dimmer is off I cant switch lights on at the normal switch, any ideas, thanks

Need to read the manual for the dimmers, they aren't normal dimmer connections and no one can really say what should be connected to make them work as a two way.
The fact one terminal is labelled slave link suggests it needs a specific slave unit at the other end of the two way, sometimes this is just a retractive switch but not necessarily so.

And yes you need an enormous four pole motor contractor to switch that massive load. Or maybe you could read the specification of the photocell and make an informed decision for yourself.
