Hi everyone, we have in our rented flat a quite old storage heater. Up to now we only used it when required without using the "storage" feature, as we are unable to understand how the input/output controls work. It does definitely work when we turn the switch on, but it seem we cannot regulate the input/output. We have controls we have on the top right, these do not look like the ones we can fine online so we are confused... The heater is so old there is no brand or model name anywhere. If anybody could help, it would be amazing!
Thanks in advance!

That was on economy 7 the old ones really only had two controls a fan and a flap. So push switch one and the fan comes on low push switch two the fan comes on medium and both together the fan goes full blast I think. The flap or vent next to it controls how much heat comes out. Are you on economy 7 do you have two meters and a time switch where the main switches are?

Thanks! So there is basically no way to turn the output off and turn it on when desired, if I understand correctly?

As I remember them some 30 ish years ago I was struck by that fact myself! It seems you close the vent in your case and that is as far as you could go in turning it off which was in the main sufficient as very little warm air got out. It is only with the fan that the warm air will stream out and the heat dissipate completely so cold air will come out. Good in summer I suppose. Again it depends on whether you are on economy 7 as to it operating. Normally they have a switched fused supply next to them so you could turn them off individually. But economy 7 is mostly only for when you are using over 4kw or more to make it economically viable.
P.S. there is a list online for older storage heaters that will tell you if they have asbestos in them so be wary of that possibility. You might be blowing asbestos particles into the room when using the fans or even the convection passively from the heater.

Difficult to see what the heater is from the pics looks like it is a storage / convector heater do you have a picture of all of heater and also how many cables go to it
