Advice on wiring new room stat

Hi all, can anyone help with replacing an old timeguard room stat with a new smart stat as in the following pics....

Do you not have the manufacturers instructions?

Blue into N(3). Brown into L(4) with a wire link from L(4) to 2.
Grey into 1.
I have the exact same device so that's how I know

Make and model number also helps as well as what sort of central heating system you have installed.

Replying to Midwest, we are men we don't need instructions if it doesn't work we go on the internet to ask other men, if that fails we then dig the instructions out of the bin when the wife/partner isn't looking......... ;o))))) By that time she has installed it and gives you that "smug" look as someone on Mumsnet helped her out.

me personally i would of linked 4-1 and grey in 2 but it doesnt really matter

1 and 2 are just switch contacts so you feed 240volts into one end and your output on the other.If the item your controlling is only 12 volt switching then obviously you leave out the 240 volt link wire.

As the original 'stat is wired it's BLACK into neutral not blue, it's a 3 core and cpc cable brown,black and grey.

Does anyone else think it strange that on the diagram on the old back plate the NO is shown connected to the NC contact of the relay?
