What extra qualifications are needed for oil and gas at the moment im just a jib electrician doing commercial industrial installations im looking for any over seas work im not really bothered about the risks , cheers
 
Take a look on oilcareers.com wordwide worker and just engineers there's probably more but you'll get an idea of what employers are looking for. Usually they're after someone with higher quals than what they finished their apprenticeship, HNC is common but take a look mate. Shy bairns get nee sweeties

What most oil/gas companies are looking for in these advertisements, is verifiable petrochem experience. The trouble is, is actually breaking into the petrochem industry to gain that experience. It's virtually a closed shop, so you tend to end up in a catch 22 loop. It's not impossible to break into the petrochem industry, but it's not too far short. lol!! ...You'd need at the very least, Compex accreditation and a good industrial background, coupled with at least a level 4 core qualification to stand any chance at all of getting that break into that industry...
 
Il be giving it a go, i havealot of industrial commercial experience done a few years in airports ,steel works.. ive put a post up before about a google data center being built in finland that is paying really well its just finding the right re ruitment agency

I did 2 yrs in Afghanistan and that was enough, enjoyed it as jobs go. my mate said they are hiring again, pm me if you want a contact. i'm doin oil and gas now the last yr. you'll need your compex and survival course to have a chance. persistence is key. lots of guys doing the rope access too to get an edge.
