Any of the site historians like to explain what this is all about?

It looks like one side is a 40A main fuse but the other, exposed, side attached to the 15A switch?

By the way it was open when I got there, honest.

Need the DNO in to put in an E7 meter and teleswitch, if that's how they still do it.

In the cutout you've got a 40A fuse and a solid neutral link which has been put in to replace the original neutral fuse.

Not sure what the 15A switch fuse is doing.
Is there a BS number for this type of fuse, can't see anything on the housing.

Before British Standardisation?
 
No chance, approached with my longest VDE pokey stick.
