Antique Battery Charger tidy up.

Hi all. New to this forum so hi.
I love tinkering and stuff so looking for advice on this one. I have a battery charger from my old gramps. It's old but I love it.
It still works great and charges but I wondered if I could or should replace the transformer coil bit inside.? Is it Easy to identify a replacement or should I bother??

Personally I would leave it original if all is well.

I think if that earth is connected I would be tempted to leave it alone.
I had one very similar to that.

Yes, it's fastened down nicely.
I just think it looks cool. I'll give.it a hoover out then and get a couple of gromets. Can you tell if it still outputs good charge?

Easiest way is to put a a battery on it and read the ammeter. If the battery is low it will go to near max amps then slowly drop.
There are other ways , but it is old and you may damage it.

best leave as it is. any new-fangled bits added unecessarily would detract from it's heritage.be like fitting a toupee to pete999.

The guage works fine. Charges batteries and the needle drops nicely.
All good then!
