Discuss Anybody know what this starter motor fits?? in the Auto Electrician Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hi,is it sealed at the brush plate end? If so,it looks like an industrial starter, which were de-rated,and could be fitted to anything used in industry, from tractors, pumps,to shunt ponies.

What is on that plate? It looks fordish, but Telford's a long way away...

The link I provided for an almost identical one did indeed have it listed as industrial/commercial. Blood expensive too at £360 for a refurb and exchange!

Yes it is sealed, and the plates aren't very helpful: it states 'modifications' then the numbers 1 to 15 are in sequence in a grid form, there is another one on the brush plate.

Just take it to an auto electrical garage where they re-wind motors. There will be an old duffer in there somewhere that will squint at it, tell you his life story and then tell you what it is.
