Hi all, been looking for some instructions for one of those rotary ceiling fans/lights (the ones with the 3 big blades) but cannot find any. Anyone know if these ceiling fans need fusing down to 3A (like the bathroom extractor fans do). I would assume not as they likely have larger motors and its not drawing in dust ect so not likely to get clogged/burn out but would like to be sure. Thanks

I don't think they do, fitted a few over the years and I've never seen that in the instructions. Not my favourite thing though as they need loads of assembly,a really good fixing to timber due to the weight and invariably wobble like mad. :)

I wouldn't fuse, as you say the reasons for fusing a bathroom fan is fire risk. Ceiling fan motors draw very low current and have little power.

Helicopters !
The only good thing about those contraptions is they make good U tube clips for the swinging of Cats
If it was the case that they required 3 amp fusing, there must be thousands upon thousands that are deficient

I can see nobody going to the trouble of fitting some accessory just for the purpose of trying to protect a product that is the responsibility of the manufacturer

The last one I fitted didn't mention an isolation switch - but I insisted on fitting one.

Top Tip : Make sure there is a joist above where you want to fit it and allow 2 hours...

Last one I was asked to put up I refused. As in didn't do it, not put a new fuse in, 3A or otherwise.
The MIs asked for 2.3m from floor to the bottom of the fan but the ceiling was too low. You could have reached up and put your hand into it. Computer said no.
