Discuss Are you all ready for Christmas? in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hey all, hope you are going for an artificial tree (and they do look quite realistic) and don't buy/chop a real tree. Please.

Welcome to the forum mate.
Don't they plant trees especially for xmas?
If no one bought a proper tree then they would just stop planting them.

Our tree is artificial..

Well, tree up and decoration up. Xmas music playing. Daughter happy as can be.. She even videoed us decorating it so she can put it on her Youtube.. My job to edit it....

Xmas is a bit of a culture shock for me. I spend most of the year working away, staying in Premier Inns or Best Westerns. I come home on a Friday evening and I'm usually gone Sunday evening or early Monday morning. Xmas means 2 weeks at home with the wife, 2 kids, 2 cats and a dog. I loose (partial) control of the TV remote, I can't watch TV naked and scratch my balls whenever I want. I usually end up cooking meals AND doing the dishes. I have to put up with the wife snoring all night. I'll be glad when it's all over

th
I love xmas oh oh oh . soon be Easter so start crack in the eggs .

We’re having a blue blue Christmas as Elvis once said.

This is just one end of the living room. There’s still the dining room to go.
Yes, it’s touching the ceiling.

The bay window there was specially designed when we extended the house.... just for a tree.

For the real/fake tree discussion... I would rather go real, from a managed source than a plastic tree that goes to landfill in a few years.
That said, we use the same plastic tree we had when we got married 20 years ago.

We are now on the Buck’s Fizz, watching mtv Xmas music channels and thinking about what do on the outside of the house

People like you should not be allowed to vote or operate dangerous equipment.
:D:D:D:D:D

Mostly on 12 hour shifts all over Christmas generating some Electrickery to cook the turkeys and power the Christmas tree lights.... uuuuuuug
Which site do you work at? If you have any problems with your switchgear or transformers we'll be happy to come and get some highly paid overtime to repair it all :)

Hey guys,

Merry Christmas (maybe too early? - I've seen hundreds of trees up so maybe not lol) from me and Lou, and on behalf of the staff, who I can't thank enough for being awesome and covering on all the forums for the past year or so. I've had a lot going on, and it's still going on. So thanks for that.

Are you guys all done for xmas? You getting all the calls from customers wanting things finished for xmas? You got all your xmas prezzies? (or shop xmas eve like me?

Here's to a brilliant Xmas and a wonderful new year. :)
Due to the strict rules on bad language employed by this forum, I'm unable to reply to this in the manner to which I choose.
I'd get a long ban.

It’s ‘Christmas’ not ‘Xmas’. Humbug, humbug. It starts on the 25th of December, not before, for a period of 12 days and that’s it. Humbug, humbug. I hate it as people feel the need to spend ridiculous amounts of money and demand things they want rather than appreciate a gift that someone has thoughtfully chosen for them. Humbug, humbug

I appreciate thoughtful gifts, so long as it's what I want and not cheap.

Amen.

I suspect by your location and what you have said that you work for or have dealings with South Wales Switchgear that was Brush Switchgear and moved there when the Loughborough site closed down

I used to work for South Wales Transformers about 12 years ago before they closed the factory and moved the transformer section to Loughborough. I now work for a company based in Swindon that specialises in AVC but I work in the department that does EHV/HV transformer and switchgear maintenance at power stations throughout the UK.

My son worked for the Brush transformer site at Loughborough and many moons ago I did my apprenticeship with Brush Switchgear then they moved it down to South Wales, I understand its moving back to Loughborough. But keeping on track have a great Christmas.

I haven't heard anything about moving back. I'll check on that.
Back on topic - Humbug!
