hey everyone,

hopefully a very straightforward question please can you advise on the following

have a mains wire ready for outside light (previous owners had light but wasn't working) tested wires and are live.

out of wall have red black earth from mains, far as i can tell not linked to a switch inside anywhere.

i have attached these per the pic to the new outside light board.
red to live, black to neutral, earth to earth.

now i have a problem with the light connector, (has PIR)
out the box it was wired per the below red&white / grey / blue & white

I'm thinking I can't simply plug into the wall light mains connector block as they don't match up i.e. if i went red&white to the red live, ten the grey would be on neutral and the blue & white on earth.

please advise what i should do!?

your connections are in the right terminals, but ...
1. sleeve that bare earth wire green/yellow.
2. re-do the black so that there is no copper showing.
3. the red/white on that plug should go to the bottom terminal that has no incoming connection., so it's right in that respect.
4.the feed should be protected by a 3A or 5A double pole Fused Connection Unit ( fused spur).

Hi Jake, those connections, and the entry into the light fitting leave a lot to be desired, you asked "what should I do" with respect, and with safety in mind I would advise the services of an Electrician, shouldn't take long, an not very costly to install the light correctly. You never know if a Forum member lives near you, they may be able to help, I would but you are to far away from me.
