Discuss Bit flummoxed as to what exactly to report/say on this? in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Saw my own bodge today. A small shop with flats above. Plastic cu fitted within last few months. According to the property company the electrician said part p dont apply as its a shop and plastic ones are acceptable! Not with flats abo e it aint! So itsnow gone to the property management firms in house legal team to basically sue the so called approved contractor. Upside i get to replace it i was only going to give advice initially as i went to school with the guy.
Do the dwellings and commercial shop share a common supply? If the shop has a separate supply Part P does not apply.

Aye, JK...must be Glasgow Harbour then! Electrics there are a nightmare...internal bathrooms with the extractor fans non-ducted into the service voids...
However, the up-side is, if you are fishing cables there are loads of "hookers" on hand to assist you...a working knowledge of the Russian language is useful...

Scams are us
Well yes and maybe no, I hope. If yes then all my hard work and experience and qualifications can be dismissed as nothing. Or if no, then when I or anyone achieves membership of a scheme, it can be regarded as bona fide proof of my ability to operate electrically. It is such a shame that this is brought into doubt. But you do hear of this more than we should. /Sigh!

Yes shared supply, one main board with others fed off same cut out to sub boards for the flats, was one of the things I checked when there. Its quite common in Bath to find the upstairs flats sharing the cutout with shop or offices below. Comes from all the conversions back and forth over years, slowly they are being put on separate cutouts.

Wonder why the original spark didn't finish it? Bet it was because the landlord wasn't willing to pay for a proper job.
