Probably all in a days work for a professional electrician but it had me scratching my head. I wanted to fit lighting into a room but there is an en suite on the floor above, as you can see I made a hole in the ceiling and worked from underneath.

What size cable is that? only it looks a bit bulky for lighting applications

Looks a bit of a sorry mess I have to say. Gonna need an MF JB above the ceiling, when there was no need to have any JB at all. Only 1 cable at the fan isolator, and good luck setting any kind of box into that mess of a hole for the fan isolator on what's now a skimmed wall.

I sometimes make a statement that the worst Diy types to perform on domestic electrics are those who "think" they have done a good job because "it works" these people can be deadly

Then there are those who go out of their way to find out the best practice, they may copy what was found, they take pride in having done a job(which is not rocket science) and are left with a safe and cheap install
Just saying

Opps, wish I hadn't put the picture up! Must admit that I've never heard of mf connection boxes so I've learned something. Cable is 1.5 twin core and earth. Junction box will be accessible when the en suite is taken out later on. Used a wiring diagram from my Readers Digest DIY manual.
