Hi Mich.

Basically you are testing the whole of the istallation in one go by testing on the supply tails and MEC.

Obviously you need to take great care when doing this to make sure that you have disconnected all electronic devices from all circuts lamps out neons in spurs disconnected with all loads connected in. Testing of 2way switches in both positions so as to test strappers aswell.

If the combined I/R is less than 2MO then you need to test each circuit individually to find the low reading one and investigate further.

I'm as above, but for pir, I have a lead that looks like a small jump lead.
2 very strong and large cocodile clips, insulated, , and 1 meter of white flex.
With the main switch off, and all cpd on.
On IR testing, I connect the lead to N bus and L bus. test L/N to earth.
I also use this to test eli by taking the croc, off the N bus and connect to the E bus.
