Besides finding a slug in my bathroom this morning- via the hole in the wall for the bonding.. should this earth bonding wire connecting my gas box be boxed in or is it ok outside as it is? Many thanks

"where practical"
Yeah OK, but he could have taken the bond straight into the service box, same route as the internal gas pipe.

BG have a nasty habit of doing this. as pete said, bond shoule be to gas inside the property within 600mm of point of entry ( with murdoch's proviso of where practicable). there's no requirement to go to the external meter box (unless maybe when there's a branch in the pipework in tsaid box).

It may have been the best route externally, else it might of had to be clipped inside surface, I would not want that.

The gas bond should be inside your house, quite why the electrician has ran the cable outside is debatable, perhaps there is some difficulty in locating the pipe inside your house
It’s only the gas guys that state it should be in the meter box BS7671 says it should be as close to the entry to the building as practicable and before any tees/branches

are these the same gas guys that strap unnecessary bonding across all the boiler pipes?

Ones about gas pipes and gas, the others about electrics and electric cables
and unless I’m mistaken that is definitely a cable therefore p**s off gas regs, you know the only reason they want it there is so they can be sure the pipe is bonded when changing the gas meter because they are supposed to put croc clips across the supplier and consumer side in case either of the pipes are carrying any voltage and create an arc when the gas meter is disconnected wonder who set their hair on fire for that to happen:tearsofjoy:
