Discuss Bonded external wiring to gas- should this be boxed in in the DIY Electrical Advice area at ElectriciansForums.net
The gas bond should be inside your house, quite why the electrician has ran the cable outside is debatable, perhaps there is some difficulty in locating the pipe inside your house
Yeah OK, but he could have taken the bond straight into the service box, same route as the internal gas pipe."where practical"
Yeah OK

We're not bothered about the gas regs
According to the IET BS 7671 isTrue but why is one saying one thing and another another etc
whose right
It’s only the gas guys that state it should be in the meter box BS7671 says it should be as close to the entry to the building as practicable and before any tees/branchesThe gas bond should be inside your house, quite why the electrician has ran the cable outside is debatable, perhaps there is some difficulty in locating the pipe inside your house

and unless I’m mistaken that is definitely a cable therefore p**s off gas regs, you know the only reason they want it there is so they can be sure the pipe is bonded when changing the gas meter because they are supposed to put croc clips across the supplier and consumer side in case either of the pipes are carrying any voltage and create an arc when the gas meter is disconnected wonder who set their hair on fire for that to happenOnes about gas pipes and gas, the others about electrics and electric cables
