Hi all,

I understand this is a forum primarily for electricians, but I have searched the forum and seen that some people have already mentioned the btec level 3 electronic engineering certificate, and was hoping that someone could provide some feedback on the course.

I am looking for get qualified in electronic engineering, with a focus on control engineering. I already work in the industry and have done for the last 7 years, working offshore as a instrument tech, based on experience from the Military. I am currently looking to get the certificates in place; I took a look a look the HNC in instr and control from teeside, also mentioned here, but decided that I may possibly benefit more starting at a lower level, and starting the HNC at a later date. I found the btec level 3 course offered by ICS.

Firstly Ive read mixed reviews reference ICS, and remain a little unsure about the company. Secondly I noted that the course doesnt actually lead to a qual in BTEC Electrical/electronic engineering, but a certificate called BTEC level 3 cert in engineering (spec electronic), which is a slightly different certificate: Engineering (Specialist - Electrical/Mechanical) (L3) | BTEC Specialist Qualifications | Qualifications : Edexcel

The course is relevant however, and seems to cover 3 fairly good modules. Has anyone done this course, would it be a good build up to the HNC?

I guess in some respects that I like the idea that it can be done reasonably quickly, if you put the work in, and it offers a recognised qual in electronics for the CV, even if at a lower level than the HNC. I aim to start the HNC in inst and control at a later time..

Any advice appreciated.
