Cable choice for a 10.5kW Shower

Hi All,
Looking to fit a 10.5kW shower for a builder and he is virtually insistant that we use 16mm T&E as 'That's what he has been told to use in the past'.
The installation is in a bungalow so the run will be in the loft where I can clip it direct above the insulation. The run is about 15mtrs max from CU to shower and we think that 10mm T&E would be OK with a 50A MCB etc.
So 16mm or 10mm

16mmm my a**e. how can you terminate that in a shower isolator. 10mm is bad enough. 10mm on 50AMCB is fine.

Yes 10mm^ is the best way, as clipped direct will give you over 60amps. tell the builder if he likes to connect 2 x 16mm^ into a double pole switch he is welcome to try..............10mm^ can be a pain

ask your builder if he can hump 1cwt. blocks of concrete up a ladder as his normal bricks are too small for building chimneys

Exactly our thoughts as well. 10mm can be a b**ch to terminate anyway.
Will have to tread carefully with this guy as he is a new builder working for an established customer so don't want rock the boat.

6mmm would suffice,47A clipped direct, up to 20metres, unless they've changed the rules again.

The installation method is very important here, as the CCC for 10mm T&E varies form 64A method C to 32A method 103.

If it is clipped direct and not touching any insulation the a 10mm will suffice.

totally agree just left a post on another shower question ,have a look at page 31 table 2.3.1 installation referance methods , although we can only designe for when the installation is done , we do have to be sensible especially with all the insulation thats being installed around the country and they are putting in 6" ontop of whats there they do not go under the cables but over them so if you look at cable installation method 103 as lenny has said then 6mm is rated at 23.5 amps 10mm at 32 amps and 16 mm at 42.5 amps so the builder is quite correct if the installation method is 103
