So I have some servers in my shed and I simply can't run all these servers of a single 13A socket so I need to change my power solution here's a design I mocked up, I'm just wondering what cable to use from the consumer unit to the commando plug in the shed, The MCB is 32AMP so I'm just curious on what cable to use!

If the cable is to run from the house to the shed then you need to consider such things as:

  • distance
  • installation method
  • main bonding size
and loads more.

I'd consider employing the services of somebody who knows what & how to do it...........& ask about a submain to a cu in the shed you can then think about splitting the servers to individual supplies for resilience.

I think i need to employ someone to do it, best be safe and the server's in the shed are fine as I've had the work done to to combat humidity problems etc, thanks anyway guys!

what's the total power rating of the servers? ( add them up ).

A point not yet raised here is your earth leakage of such a system and how to protect it yet staying within regulations, you may need additional earthing here too if the leakage >10mA.

I too would recommend you get a competent person in on this one as it will need careful design to meet regulation and isn't just about getting a larger outlet to cope with the demand.
