So when the appliance fuse blows in the plug of the appliance... Not your problem I guess. THAT's why they should be in a cupboard as high as reasonably practical on the hinge side. Which fuse blows first, the FCU or plugtop. Answers on a postcard

You’re arguing (4 years late) with the wrong person or body. It’s a mandatory requirement within the Scottish Building Standards to have above counter isolation. I also said 4 years ago a ‘switch’ You changed that to an FCU, not me.
 
I've been using IP66 sockets below sinks for a while now. I'm happy with that.
