Hi what's the best way to change ceiling roses to downlights I've seen the click flow plug connectors not looking for cheap way just best way as I usually don't do this kind of work? I've got two lights in my kitchen at the moment which are just normal ceiling roses and I ideally want 8 new downlights installed I've got two one way light switches either side of the kitchen so will either keep them as they are and have 4 off 1 switch and 4 off the other or get rid of 1 and change for 2 way with each switch still controlling 4 downlights? If anyone has any pictures before and after will be much appreciated cheers

Cool & welcome. Might wanna update your profile page. There is a Trainee section, that people like me can't access. You might want to ask the Mods to give you access. :)

Firstly, your profile page doesn't indicate you level of expertise?
Not just the OP in this post, there are many folk who post a question and when you have a look to see their experience, there is nothing there, most annoying when you want to help, it's almost as uf some people think regular members are mind readers.

We have used the Hager 501 downlight j.b. they are good for when more than 2 cables as lot of room. The problem you will have Pete is getting past existing joists unless you take up floor.

Depends how desperate the customer is, and whether the floor's tiled, laminate etc above. Just drill access holes in the ceiling, re-instae, plaster & decorate. Normally airtex ceiling anyway!

Cant see what that has to do with posters not showing their realms of experience or expertise.

The palce where all of the cables are now is probably where you'll need a junction box. Unless you are putting a downlight at that point (Unlikely) then you must use a maintenance free box if you will no longer have access to the junction.
Then just parallel all of the lights.

If you want to split the lights 4 and 4 from the separate switches then you have a LOT of wiring to think about.

This was the method that I was trying to get at but although you can get to some of the existing cables for the other lights you need to get past joists either holes in ceiling or taking floor up.

Ceiling is artex at the moment but the owner is getting rid of the artex, there is one joist that runs along the ceiling but going to run the 4 downlights one side of the beam off the light switch that side and the other 4 off the opposite side of beam off the switch that side

Ummph, don't get complicated, you can only put down lights where there aren't obstructions. If they are gonna skim the ceiling, jobs a good un

I had no idea there was any boxes for such information!
