Hi Guys,

The easiest way is via Sunny Explorer. However, to do this you will need to install a bluetooth piggy back card into the inverter (if it doesn't already have one), and you'll need a laptop which a bluetooth adaptor (either internal or USB). Make sure the NetID is set correctly on the piggy back card (if set to 0 bluetooth is disabled).

Then download Sunny Explorer from the SMA website, and install that on the laptop. Start it up and it should find the inverter. Log on as installer (default password is 1111). Then go to settings, and my recollection is that the start voltage is under the DC settings. Click on the edit button, and you should be able to change it.

P.S. why do you want to change it? If the string is too low a voltage then the SB1700 may not be the right inverter. If the string voltage is within the normal operating range for the SB1700, changing the start up voltage is not going to make any significant difference

No the inverter isnt correct, i purchased it during December for my 2.5kwp system, only thing i could get my hands on at the time, I have shading on 5 of my panels in the afternoon, this was robbing me of kWh's

I was looking for a dual mppt inverter or 2 x sb1200.

I managed to get a cheap SB1200, so have installed that on 5 of the panels and the other 5 are on the SB1700.

When i fired up the SB1700 the voltage went right to 190v before the inverter started, although the manual says 180v start voltage. then dropped to around 150v but still outputting around the 700w mark. - was thinking of lowering the start voltage to around 160v to help it start as 5 panels is a little small for the inverter.

If thesb1700 performs ok i will leave it, i not i will replace with a SB1200.

Cheers

Where are you?

I have piggy back and bluetooth dongle/software on lap top.

If your local to me your welcome to borrow it, obviously I cannot let you have my grid guard code though.
