Just wondered what you all think about one of the changes to the regs.
Having to install an earth rod when changing a consumer unit.

That's the question my boss asked, what happens if it's a flat. Do you think the extra cost of having to add an earth rod will put people off having a board change or will more people be looking for a cowboy to do it cheaper

Easy...use the elevator to press a 30 meter rod into the ground,below the elevator car,then,place the drum of 16mm,over the floor hatch,as you ascend, back to the flat.

Sarcasm? I am confused by your comment, either your just been witty or you don't understand when and why bonding is required.

I assume you mean that plastic pipes are creating natural installation isolation from earth and nolonger providing a parallel path so it is more so essential to ensure the earth rod if used gives a good reading... you comment was somewhat ambiguous hence my reply

Is that one (earth electrode) proposed to be a necessary upgrade prior to alterations, or (I thought..) only for new build?
