Hi all

been asked to do a commercial periodic inspection I have a 17th edition and registered with elecsa
do I need any further requirements to do this job

Like all periodic inspection and testing and producing an eicr you need good experience of the type of installation, sound knowledge of current regulations and how and where they apply in this situation (eicr is different to initial verification)

registered with elecsa

Others can feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but I don't believe you will be able to produce the Report on their paperwork as it is my understanding that they are essentially a Domestic Installer scheme and therefore do not register contractors for non-domestic work.

You would be a bit of a fool to put your signature on a document like that without insurance to cover yourself.
But then we also live in a world where drivers of vehicle don't have insurance.
I know which camp i'm in :innocent:

I'm quite happy to pay for motor insurance. I've even made a claim myself once.

If you mean Professional Indemnity insurance, please give me one example where an electrician has made a successful claim regarding an EICR/PIR. I suspect that the premiums for PI insurance for electricians are entirely profit for the insurance companies.
