Compex EX04 failed ....

Hello Members,

Just been told I have failed my EX04. Visual, close and detailed inspections on IS circuits. Basically don’t know what I missed? Fault wise? From memory their was the obvious bolt missing from JB, missing stoppers, damaged cable, IS earth going to dirty earth. Barrier the wrong way round, non armoured cable used so not as per the drawing. Incorrect JB or a sticker rather over the PL612 JB. Non IS pressure transmitter or plate missing. Loose connections. Obviously marking the bloody fault codes to suit as well.

Little bit of a pain when they won’t tell you what you’ve actually missed/got wrong.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Did you check that the detectors etc had the right ambient temperature etc for the zone they were in? You can do that on the visual part. Also things like make sure every accessory matches the specification paperwork. Barrier round the right way? I.s. Earth the correct csa? It sounds like you picked up on plenty so you were maybe just unlucky. I’m sure when I did mine I picked up on things like nicked cables, loose glands, wrong bolts etc but I was told to ignore they were just from wear and tear on the test booth.

Any deviations from the drawing?

It’s such a tough 5 days isn’t it.

Yes thanks lads, I think I could of missed a PL612 JB modification to incorporate an LED, but not sure now just trying to get a heads up and try and pass the bloody thing! I did pick up the in the visual that the cable was in armoured, but was told I wouldn’t pick this up until a close as wouldn’t see it, however you are allowed JBs open in the safe area. Say like a control room. Anyway crossed this out and put into the close as thought I best. However still failed.

Did anyone get suggested to record more than one code if you have time to review your faults and feel that other codes may also be relevant.

I hope you are fine. Do you have any experience about Ex inspection done at field. I need to inspect my area as per EX standards. I have certificates Ex 01-02-03-04, but I have not done any inspection except during practical training.
If you have any sample inspection report, would you help me and email me please?
