Evening all..

I'm a bit stumped! I have been asked to 'sign off' a DIY outside socket install by the homeowner. Apparently they are being asked for a 'certificate' by the property developer who is buying the house.

I have explained that I cannot give a MWC as I did not do the work. Can you offer a condition report of some kind? Can you complete an EICR or is that solely for the whole property (which the homeowner does not want)?

Cheers guys..

I thought that would be the solution, but what about Form 7? This needs to be completed as part of the EICR and it includes a great deal of info about the property as a whole. Would you still complete all the sections re: distributors equipment/ consumer unit/ earthing bonding? I suppose if the customer specifically asks for just the socket to be tested and doesn't want me to look at any of the other bits I could put that down as a 'limitation'?

What do you need to check to make sure the install is safe ? bonding ? main earth ? circuit OCPD ? So fill in all the necessary sections.
Just limit the circuit inspections and tests to the one circuit.

I would complete the basics and highlight any "obvious" issues.

FYI I have been askd today to inspect an LED light fitting in a bathroom in a self build extension - the request has come from the LABC chappie!
