Hi. We have a gas cooker at the moment and we would like to change it for a dual fuel one. There is a separate fuse for cooker and a cooker switch. The problem is that the cable is unplugged from the switch and my husband could not find any cooker connection point behind the cupboards - it looks like the cable is somewhere under the floor. The cooker switch is in the same cupboard as a fuse board - below the fuse board actually. The cupboard is under the stairs, next to it is fridge, then one cupboard (45cm) and the cooker. It is within 2m away form the cooker (I would need to measure it to get more specific dimensions). Can we leave a switch as it is or do we need to install a new one closer to the cooker? It is accessible however you need to open a cupboard to access it.

Hi Paula and welcome to the Forum, my advice is to seek the services of a local Electrician. With all the best intentions in the World it is very difficult to give advice for afar other than what I have already said, contact the Electrician, and ask Him/Her the cost of reinstating, testing and certifying the cooker supply.
