I'm struggling to get a timer to work. It's a red lion pax r, and I'm using a proximity sensor as the input to count so that every time it makes it counts. The manual that comes with it hasn't helped

Is it a counter or timer ?

Could you provide details of the proximity sensor, in particular its output which you have connected to the counter. I need its name and model number so I can google it. Also, how have you have connected it to the counter at the moment?

proximity sensors come in many flavors(hall effect, capacitive, and optical style) and have different outputs,(normally open and normally closed(digital) and variable resistance(analog))
more info on the sensor is needed and preferably a drawing of your circuit. this can give us an idea of whats going on
